An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.
A onetime senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, political commentator Karl Rove is also the author of Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight and The Triumph of William McKinley: Why the Election of 1896 Still Matters. Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin calls the latter, which came out in 2015, “a rousing tale told by a master storyteller whose love of politics, campaigning, and combat shines through on every page.”
Rove discussed The Triumph of William McKinley with author/attorney Talmage Boston in late October. Listen to the podcast here.
