Curato is an author and illustrator of picture books and graphic novels. His highly acclaimed and 2024 Top Ten Challenged Book debut young adult graphic novel, Flamer, was awarded the Lambda Literary Award. Gaysians, which came out in June 2025, is heartwarming story following four gay Asians navigating love, identity, and friendship — a celebration of queer chosen family. Meticulously observed and gorgeously illustrated, Gaysians is a fierce, funny, and tender story of queer resilience and self-discovery.
