Ready to Fall for the Book?

One of the DMV’s favorite festivals kicks off soon! The open-to-the-public Fall for the Book returns to George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, on Tuesday, October 7th, at 2:15 p.m., with a virtual talk by Brian Buckbee and Carol Ann Fitzgerald, authors of the memoir We Should All Be Birds. Then, on Wednesday, October 8th, at 7:30 p.m., co-headliner Ariel Lawhon takes the stage at GMU’s Harris Theater to discuss her most recent New York Times bestseller, The Frozen River: A Novel.

On Friday, October 10th, at 7:30 p.m., the festival’s other headliner, bestselling nonfiction author Erik Larson, will discuss his latest chart-topper, The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War, as well as the rest of his stellar oeuvre, at Harris Theatre.

Other featured events include Jeff Goodell, author of The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet, who will deliver the Beck Environmental Lecture on Wednesday, October 8th, at 6 p.m., in GMU’s Center for the Arts.

All events are free, but tickets are required for Lawhon’s and Larson’s talks. Get your tickets here. And check out the festival’s main page for more information about the full lineup.
