Meet our 2026 keynote speakers!

The Washington Writers Conference Presents Aran and Margot Lee Shetterly

We’re thrilled to announce that husband-and-wife authors Aran Shetterly and Margot Lee Shetterly will be the keynote speakers at our 2026 Washington Writers Conference!

Aran, a journalist and narrative historian, most recently wrote Morningside: The 1979 Greensboro Massacre and the Struggle for an American City’s Soul. And Margot, founder of the Human Computer Project, is the author of the New York Times bestselling Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, which was made into a movie starring Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer.

Hear for yourself how Aran and Margot approach their craft, uncover compelling subjects, and turn their ideas into lauded works of nonfiction! They’re just two of the dozens of publishing pros and literary agents who’ll be on hand to share their expertise.
