An occasional series in which writers speak for themselves.

Authors on Audio: Elisa Carlsen

Elisa Carlsen (she/they), the poetry editor for New American Press, has had their work published in numerous places, including SixFold, VoiceCatcher, Anti-Heroin Chic, and Oranges Journal. Her first poetry collection, Cormorant, was written in response to the federal government’s plan to slaughter thousands of birds for the sake of salmon recovery. Carlsen discussed Cormorant with Jeffrey Krizman during a two-part interview in the spring.
